We are all pedestrians.
Everyone is a pedestrian at some point in his or her trip, whether it is from doorstep to bus stop, from the parking lot to an office, or taking the dog on a leisurely trip through the neighborhood streets.
Walking is also an important part of a healthy lifestyle and can provide a range of benefits. People are healthier and stay healthy longer when they get regular exercise.
The National Highway Safety Administration developed the following curriculum to help educators and parents teach school age children about pedestrian safety.
The Child Pedestrian Safety Curriculum teaches and encourages pedestrian safety for students grades Kindergarten through 5th Grade. It is organized into five lessons: walking near traffic, crossing streets, crossing intersections, parking lot safety, and school bus safety. Each lesson builds upon previous set of skills learned.
